Malumalu
90% suri alpaca, 10% silk · 225 m / 100 g (≈ 246 yd / 3.5 oz) · hand-wash only
Malumalu is truly special: ultra-soft and airy, yet with a gentle body that keeps your stitches from collapsing. Its name comes from the Tok Pisin word “malumalu,” meaning soft—a perfect summary of the yarn’s character.
Suri alpaca brings naturally lustrous, long fibers for extra smoothness and next-to-skin comfort, while silk adds a touch of luxury and a subtle sheen. The surface has a light, tasteful texture that gives knitted fabric visual interest without becoming overly fuzzy.
Recommended projects: shawls, scarves, hats, and lightweight sweaters—anything worn next to the skin where you want maximum softness.
Use it on its own for a cloud-like feel, or hold it together with a fingering-weight companion yarn to add depth and a softly textured halo to your fabric.
Dyer’s notes: available in solid and variegated colourways; not dyed as gradients!
